Cycling
Six bikes, a slow cooker full of chain wax, and a couple years of Strava data.
I ride a 2002 LeMond Zurich 18 miles to commute to work and back, year-round. Ice is basically the only thing that stops me. On weekends my wife and I pick whichever bikes fit the terrain: road loops around the Fells and out to Nahant, or gravel days in Acadia and Beaver Brook. We also try to find bike trips wherever we travel.

Highlights
A few rides that stand out.
Sun Moon Lake loop
29 km around the lake on a rented Giant. We enjoyed a late lunch and made it to the rental shop around 3 pm. The shop closed at 6, so we had to power through the whole loop.
Antibes to Nice coastal ride
60 km round trip on rented Temple road bikes along the fully-protected coastal path between Antibes and Nice. The Mediterranean was an pretty cerulean. We spotted a Tour de France commemorative sign in Nice.
Acadia carriage roads
The Around the Mountain Loop is a 11.3 mile car-free carriage road that takes you around Acadia's interior. The quiet in the park on a fall morning is something else. We try to bring our gravel bikes up every year.
Bangkok bike tour
Three laps around the Happy Healthy Bike Lane, a 23.5 km asphalt track on the outskirts of the city. Flat, smooth, and packed with locals. 95+ degrees but definitely worth checking out.
The bikes
Six vintage frames found on Craigslist and rebuilt in my basement. Four LeMond road bikes and two late-90s Specialized Stumpjumpers converted to gravel bikes, inspired by builds on r/xbiking. I do all the wrenching myself, from cable swaps and bearing overhauls to full drivetrain upgrades. All the drivetrains run on hot-waxed chain: strip the factory grease, melted wax in a slow cooker, re-dip every few hundred miles or whenever I remember.
